Do you get writer’s block sometimes and end not writing anything for a few days till something comes to mind? Once in a while, this happens to me but I use certain tools to help get the creative juices flowing. A suggestion that I have seen get posted on forums and blogs is to read other blogs for ideas on what to write. Now that is a good suggestion but it’s not a completely original idea because you got the topic from another blog. What I’d like to share with you now are the methods I use to come up with fresh blog topics.
I’m a huge fan of scheduling blog topics so I always have ideas for posts. I get most of my ideas from moderating forums; I see problems that people are having and generate blog topics that would answer their questions When I am able to write about it, I turn it into a blog post. In a typical week, I have up to 6 blog topics written down on a piece of paper next to my laptop.
Let’s get to some tools that you can use to come up with blog topics.
Tools For Discovering Blog Topics:
HubSpot’s Blog Topic Generator
The Blog Topic Generator is an easy way to get some ideas for topics. What it does is display blog titles related to the keywords or word you input in each box. Of course, you do not have to use the titles it gives you, but it could spark a few ideas. I recommend using Blog Topic Generator when you are completely drawing a blank on ideas for blog topics
Here is how it works. Input words or keyword phrases into each box. Hit the give me blog topics button.
Press the button to receive the blog topic ideas. Here are the results of the test I did in the above image.
Some of the topics won’t make a lot of sense because of the combination of keywords, but it does help get the ball rolling. Let me ask you a question, can you write a blog post on the results shown above with some tweaking? Just by getting some titles to look at, the ideas can start flowing in.
Visit the Blog Topic Generator page and start getting some ideas.
Google Trends
One of the oldest tricks to finding topics to write on is using Google Trends to find out what’s currently hot and most searched for online. By writing content for the most searched content online, you put yourself in a good position to get traffic.
How to use Google Trends is fairly simple: type in a keyword or a keyword phrase into the search box and hit enter. See what’s trending and write a blog post related to that trend but with your own twist on it so you are unique. This type of content can go viral in the social media world if you have a good following online.
